Santa Paws

Its that time of year again. Time to get ready for Santa and cold weather. My favortie thing in the world when it gets cold is a cozy pair of jammies! I like to cuddle up in them and just lay in my bed by the Christmas tree and look at all the pretty lights. I try to be good and not sniff all the packages arooooo! Santa always brings me a pair of jammies early so I can be warm and festive while I wait for him on Christmas Eve. I hope all the furkids get warm fuzzy pajamas from Santa Paws this year. Ouch a Bee

With Summer comes bees and with bees the furkids may get stung. We have already had this happen this year, while taking a walk Wickkett stepped on a honeybee in the clover and it stung him. Poor guy did not know what happened but he knew it hurt he stuck his foot straight up in the air. So its a good time to share some valuable information about stings in dogs. As with humans dogs can be allergic to them and need immediate vet care a few things to watch for

• 1. Difficulty breathing
• 2. Difficulty swallowing
• 3. Swelling spreads beyond sting area
• 4. Other signs of an allergic reaction (or the more severe condition, anaphylactic shock) are collapsing, vomiting, diarrhea, pale gums, trembling or weakness, pale gums, excessive drooling, a fever or agitation. If you notice any of these call your vet!

A few things you can do at home to treat the sting

• 1. Remove the stinger, the best way is using a credit card to scrape out the stinger tweezers can squeeze more venom into your dog when you take it out.
• 2. Make a paste of baking soda and water diluted enough to stick to skin. This mixture not only helps with pain relief but helps to dilute any toxins.
• 3. Relieving swelling can be done with an ice pack, ice in a plastic zip bag wrapped in a dish towel and alternate 5 minutes on 5 minutes off.
• 4. Many vets use this human allergy med at a dosage of 1 mg per 1 lb. of dog body weight. Tablets are 25 mg each, which would be the dosage for a 25 lb. dog. A 50 lb. dog would need two tablets, a 12 lb. dog would need half a tablet, etc. But call a veterinarian FIRST; you need professional advice.

As with any injury please consult a veterinarian first. From our latest incident the baking soda paste worked wonders, after it staying on the sting for just a bit Wick stopped wanting to lick it I also gave him benedryl which really helped as it never really did any swelling.

Happy To see Rain

Its been a while since I've blogged its been a cold long winter and I've been hibernating like a little bear cub. The past couple of week have been so warm and sunny I love to lay in front of the glass door and let the sun hit warm my back as a take a nap. With this Spring like weather my mom has been taking me out for walks with her on our road. We have gone out every evening this week and we walk til my little legs are sooooo tired i just come in and crash and sleep the rest of the day. So this is why I'm thankful to see the rain today we will not be walking and I can sleep and lay around all day cozy in my jammies. Although I hate to go potty when its raining, my says lets go potty and I look at her like shes lost her mind! No thanks mom I'll wait til next week, I don't want to get my hair wet. HEHE....

Christmas Cookies

Its that time of year again for yummy Christmas cookies. Mom never leaves me out she makes the normal people treats fudge,chex mix, and more. I always get some special Christmas cookies too. Well today was the day she did some baking. I'm always the taste tester I really hate the waiting while they cool though.



The waiting is soooo hard all the good smells and I can see so many different shapes and colors I can't contain myself


FINALLY its time to taste. I have to tell all my doggie readers out there these were by far moms best cookies I gobbled them right up and begged for more. They were peanut butter with yogurt icing on them. Still healthy to manage my figure no sugar or salt added to them.

Picture Perfect Weekend

Hope all our readers had a good weekend. It was warm and sunny here with such bright colored leaves. My mommy and daddy took me out for a ride in the truck on Sunday. I do love riding, the windows down and the wind blowing through my whiskers pure heaven! Mommy only lets the window half down and I'm buckled in so I am safe while we travel. We started out on a dirt road which was really dirty and there was big white dust clouds so we had to roll up the windows cause the dust made me cough. YUCK! We made a few stops and I got to smell so many new smells and play in the leaves and by the creek it was so much fun. Mommy took her camera and made me sit still and look at it shes says I'm a pretty boy and make a good picture. We went up this big hill and at the top got to put the windows back down. We stopped for lunch and I got to run and play in the grass and sniff around there was so many smells I couldnt get enough. It was a very long ride and a long day when we got home I piled up and the couch and dont remember anything until the next morning. Mommy said she was so proud of me she got some great family pictures. I'm going to share a few with you. Woof!

Happy Howloween

Mom is preparing for Halloween, she says I'm her lil pukin and she plans to put my face on one as well. She found this nifty pattern on better homes and gardens webpage that has different dog breeds to make pumpkins. So she has downloaded her pattern ad says she going to get a fake pumpkin, not really sure about a fake pumpkin. I don't like Halloween as much other holiday all those little monsters in their masks and costumes scare me I like to bark at them. I don't know what I want to be this year for Halloween maybe a squirrel. What do you think I should be???

Scrub a Dub Dub Doggy

So mommy had this bright idea and of course I'm the test dummy. So shes making pet shampoo now. You see baths are not my favorite thing to do so you can imagine how I grimaced when mom said "come on Wick lets test out this new shampoo." I was a little apprehensive about it because shampoos always make me itchy and flaky and being flaky embarrasses me. Another thing I was afraid of was that the pooch smooch scent she was going to use is blue I did not want to come out being a blue schnauzy. So I sucked it up and let mom bath me in the pooch smooch shampoo and I have to say I loved it. Not the bath itself but the aftermath I'm not itchy I dont have flaky skin and I'm not blue. So the new shampoo was a success and I guess I'll be the test dummy from now on when she asks.
I'm sad this afternoon Mom is leaving me for 3 days she is going to a festival to make other doggies fashionable in Matthews, NC. I know other doggies need her creations but I miss my mommy :( Hope everyone has safe and happy labor day I'll be home with my dad missing my mommy. *Woof*

Busy times are here again

It is coming up on fall festival season, which means crazy busy times are ahead. This weekend kicks off fall festivals we will be in Matthews, NC for the Matthews Alive festival Sat thru Mon. Then the following Fri and Sat we will be in Morganton for the Historic Morganton Festival. So we will have 5 days of festivals and 3 days of work. In those 3 days in between the 2 festivals we try and catch up on treats and items sold out along with our regular work. Although its a lot of work I enjoy this time of year and these festivals so much. Meeting new customers and seeing return customers at the festivals is rewarding all the hard work we put into our products pays off when and excited pet parent gets the furkid a new treat.
